Interview with Deniz @ Cafe SOLinn
Cafe SOLinn is a trendy shop on New Cross High Street. Their coffee is superb while their food is fresh and homemade.
The stripped back brick walls along with their use of lighting gives this place a very modern feel. I caught up with the owner Deniz during the week and here is what he had to say.
Could you please introduce us to Cafe Solinn?
Deniz: Our cafe is a family run business in the heart of New Cross. We try to create a really friendly and laid back atmosphere for our customers to enjoy. We have lived in the area for nearly seven years having come over from Tunceli in Turkey.
When did you open?
Deniz: Almost one year ago, we opened in late December 2017.
What type of food do you serve?
Deniz: We try to cater for all diets. We have many meat, vegetarian and vegan options that are prepared by our chef. We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner at affordable price.
What were you doing before this?
Deniz: We were a part of Reina, the Turkish restaurant that lived further down the street. We wanted to stay in the same area but work with a smaller space.
Are you working with local suppliers?
Deniz: Yes, we’ve got a few local brews coming in the future including Brockley and Brick breweries. We would also love to serve some English Wines at some stage.
What is your favourite thing about New Cross?
Deniz: New Cross is a very cosmopolitan place. You have everything you like, all cultures, all nationalities, students, teachers all thrown together in the hustle and bustle of South East London.
Describe New Cross in one word.
