Interview with Mark King @ Mughead Coffee SE14
Urban Dictionary says that a mug head is an idiot with no respect for anyone. The complete opposite is true for Mughead Coffee on New Cross Road.
As can be seen by the picture below the staff are good fun and well up for a chat. It’s a cool little cafe to which I only recently discovered that they have a downstairs part too, bingo!
They’ve really brightened up this section of New Cross Road so please drop-in if you get the chance.
This is what Mark had to say….
Give us a little introduction to Mughead Coffee.
Mark: Mughead Coffee serves the double purpose of bringing the best possible coffee to New Cross and providing an inspiring social hub for young creatives.
Why did you open in New Cross?
Mark: New Cross seemed to us to be the perfect place for a quality coffee shop to open. The energy around here is thick, and the potential for more creative shops here is significant.
Are you working with local distillers or brewers?
Mark: Our coffee comes from Square Mile Coffee Roasters in Bethnal Green, and our milk is delivered direct from Northiam Dairy in Kent. We bake our own cakes, including cinnamon rolls that have a serious cult following!
What are you doing that’s different?
Mark: What we are doing that is different from most other specialty coffee shops is being friendly…to everyone. We despise elitism, and that comes through in the genuine community dynamic that happens at Mughead.
What is your favourite thing about New Cross?
Mark: Our favourite thing about New Cross is that it is swarming with interesting people.
Describe New Cross in one word.
